Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.
Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
